Dear Friends, Volunteers, Supporters, and Adopters,
It is with heavy hearts Nebraska Border Collie Rescue has decided to close our doors. For reasons beyond our control we are no longer able to continue fighting the good fight. Maintaining our resources has been a struggle for several years now.
Nebraska Border Collie Rescue, founded in 1999, has saved thousands of Border Collies and Border Collie mixes over the past 20 years. When we opened our doors, most did not know what a “Rescue” was. Since then we have served our community, area rescues and shelters by partnering to save border collies in need, while educating the public and our adopters. We have always strived to be the best possible ambassador for the breed. Without you, we never could have made the impact we have.
So, to our Friends and Families, Thank You for supporting us and allowing us to take time away from you to love these dogs. A special thank you for allowing us to share our homes with them to help them learn to trust again and grow. Oh, what we have learned through this process!
To our Volunteers, past and present. We cannot thank you enough. You have been the heartbeat of this organization. It has been you that has provided the push to keep pressing on when the hills have seemed too steep to climb. Your time, blood, sweat and tears has been the fuel to keep this organization moving. Our only request at this time is that you continue to give what you can to other rescues and shelters. The need is always great.
Supporters, there are no words to express our complete appreciation for the financial and material donations. Blankets and towels to provide a safe, warm, dry place for the dogs to rest, collars and leashes to keep them safe, food and treats to keep them healthy and active, and of course medical attention for injuries, physical and emotional needs. Please continue to support your local rescues and shelters in any way you are able.
And to our Adopters. Wow! I was once told that though we (as volunteers and fosters) see great improvement while the dogs are in our care, it is nothing compared to the way they blossom when they know they have reached their forever home. I believe this to be true. Thank you for trying your hardest to be the perfect person your dog believes you to be. Please continue to adopt, rather than shop.
Our doors will officially close on January 1, 2023. As our last acts of love and compassion for animals in need we will begin taking applications for monetary grants, to be awarded to rescues and/or shelters. The recipients must be a 501 3(c). The grant application will be posted on our website January 1, 2023 through January 31, 2023. You can access the application at the top of this page or HERE. The grant recipients will be announced on February 14, 2023.
Thank you again and God bless,
Faith Deitering, NBCR President
